Sequence and Series
A sequence is a function f whose
domain is the set of positive integers. The function value f(1), f(2), …, f(n)
… are called the terms of the sequence which may be denoted respectively by f1,
f2, f3, …, fn , …. The term fn is
called the nth term of the sequence. If the domain, i.e., the set of positive integers
consists of a finite number of elements only, the sequence is finite, otherwise
the sequence is said to be infinite.
If {fn} be a sequence, then an
expression of the form f1 + f2 + f3 + …., is
called an infinite series.
